Google pushes Android Wear 2.0 back to 2017; releases Developer Preview 3,

Google announced Android Wear 2.0 earlier in May at its I/O even, and has since been in tests in the form of developer preview and many have been waiting for its stable release. However, don't expect to see a stable public release of Android Wear 2.0 for your smartwatch this year, as Google has announced it won't release the update until early 2017. The reason for the delay is not known.

Apart from the delay announcement, Google released Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview 3. The latest developer preview brings Play Store for Android Wear and the store can now be directly accessed from the smartwatch.

With Play Store for Android Wear, users can browse recommended apps in the home view and search for apps easily using voice, keyboard, handwriting and other actions. Users can also switch between multiple accounts to be part of alpha and beta tests and manage 'My apps' section on their watch more easily. Additionally, if users want an app on their watch but not on their phones, they can simply install only the watch app from the Play Store for Android Wear.

Besides Play Store for Android Wear, the Developer Preview 3 also includes complication data permission, scrollable lists, inline actions for notifications and Smart Reply.

The Android Wear devices currently eligible for the third developer preview include LG Watch Urbane Second edition and Huawei Watch. Google also said the it will release another developer preview before releasing Android Wear 2.0 into the stable channel.
